Starfish Country Home School held its annual Open House on July 19th, 2019 at its location in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai, Thailand. The theme of transforming schools with innovation highlighted Starfish Education Foundation's programs and how they can foster and grow education opportunities at schools.
Dr. Prae Seributra, Executive Director of SEF, spoke with attendees about the importance of all sectors participating in positive changes for schools; not only school management, but teachers, students, parents, and communities need to work together and apply a new set of tools including technology, evaluation methods and teaching techniques.

As for the introduction of innovation into the classroom, Mrs. Mookda Comewinit, director of Starfish Country Home School, discussed how this is a policy focus for the Thai Ministry of Education. The expected outcome is to provide children with 21st century skills and abilities needed for their lives in the future. This not only strengthens quality of life for the next generation, but for Thailand as well.
The afternoon session of the open house consisted of demonstrations of the various projects and initiatives that use innovation at the school. Examples include the Starfish Maker program, teacher training and activities from the Starfish Labz program, and Project Based Learning (PBL).

Attendees included parents of students, community members, representatives from multiple public and private schools in the Chiang Mai area, the Chiang Mai Provincial Education Office, the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI), the National Innovation Agency (NIA), the Arsom Silp Institute of the Arts, and the Siam Commercial Foundation, among many other organizations and groups. We would like to thank all of these attendees, and invite them and the public to learn more about our programs:
