Starfish Education leadership attended a round table review of the “Mission – Recovering Education in 2021” report, hosted by the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) and UNICEF Thailand on September 27th, 2021. This served as a forum to discuss the impacts of COVID-19 on the Thai education system.
Research was conducted by UNICEF in collaboration with UNESCO and the World Bank "in order to identify priorities and objectives to enable all children to return to school safely and to learn in a supportive environment, which also addresses their health and psychosocial well-being and other needs". EEF bolstered this topic with research and data specific to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education system in Thailand.
Important issues were discussed, including the readiness of teachers versus students for online learning, the economic effects of having children out of school for extended periods of time, and the scope of difficulty for students to learn at home when phone, computer and internet access are not always accessible.
The report also presents how EEF and its partners have been working to address these issues since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, in which Starfish Education has played a sizable role.
